Let’s face it, morning commutes are about as interesting as watching paint dry, you’re stuck staring at the car reg in front for, what feels like, hours or sandwiched between an armpit and the tube door. According to studies, the average Brit has a 46-minute commute, which, if you’re a glass half empty person is a long old time, but try and see it as a positive way to get s*** done. Here’s some tips on spicing up your commute:
Get a head start on some lifemin
If you’re stuck on a train for hours on end, why not catch up on a bit of admin? Granted, booking that dentist appointment or paying the water bill isn’t the most thrilling of tasks, but trust us, you’ll feel so much better after. It also keeps your weekends free for much more exciting tasks!
Here at Truly, we love podcasts and most of the time you’ll spot us catching up on the latest episode to avoid spoilers. Podcasts are great to listen to anywhere and they’re great for making the time pass quicker, we’re obsessed with ‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’. A hilarious show, trust us you won’t be disappointed. Another Truly fav is ‘The High Low’ podcast. A weekly pop-culture / news podcast brought to you by Dolly Alderton & Pandora Sykes.
Call me old fashioned but I love a newspaper, there’s something special about actually holding paper rather than a phone. They’re also a great prop to hide behind if you’ve attracted a wandering eye on the tube.
Catch up on your fave series
If, like me you can’t cram any more into your evenings, catch up on the latest series on your way to work. Sure, it’s not the most stimulating activity for your brain but it is does pass the time. Just remember to download the episode first if you’re getting on the tube – bad signal can really spoil the plot line.
Start a to do list for the day
Start your day off right by making a list, not on your phone, a proper pen to paper list. You’ll feel so organised and ready to take on anything! Or try a gratitude list instead to bring a bit more positivity into your life. Try writing with our set of inspirational pencils for some added motivation.
