As the festive season comes to a close, New Year’s Day is the perfect way to round it all off. We know that Christmas can be expensive, in between buying those presents and cooking the Christmas dinner for a small army; budgets can be tight. Which is why we’ve put together a list of ideas for you and your family on New Year’s Day that won’t break the bank.
Go on a walk
There’s nothing more refreshing than fresh air after a late night. Pull on your wellies, grab the kids and head out for a nice long walk. Whether it’s on the beach, in the countryside or just around your local town; you’ll appreciate the time spent together.
While the Christmas classics may be over for another year, there is always a fantastic selection of films on New Year’s Day. Not to mention, you can spend the whole day in your pyjamas and snack on those leftovers all from the comfort of your own home!
Get ahead on the Thank You Cards
It’s never too soon to start on the Thank You cards after Christmas, and what better way to thank the people you love with handmade cards? Not only are you spending time together as a family but you’re ticking off another To Do without even realising. Or if you’re running low on art supplies, our beautiful Thank you notelets work just as well!
Do some baking
Granted, after that enormous Christmas day dinner and enough leftovers to shake a stick at, food is possibly the last thing you want to think about but if you can stomach it, baking with the kids is a lovely way to spend your New Year’s Day together. Just remember to buy the ingredients a few days before as the shops will be shut!
Make New Year’s Resolutions as a family
We’re all guilty of not sticking to those resolutions every year but by making them as a family together, you’re bound to stick to them, or at least some of them! It can be as simple as the kids doing a few more chores around the house or something bigger like saving up for a family holiday; create a list together and stick it somewhere you can all see.
